About Us
Having grown up with animals, ‘tuning in’ to what they need or ‘have to say’ has become somewhat of a second nature to me. I always knew I wanted to be able keep animals a big part of my life, so I studied Animal Care at Merrist Wood college after finishing school.
After working at a local veterinary surgery, I realised that the hours were never going to suit my own family circumstances. This is when I decided to become a part time pet sitter around working as a Registered Childminder. This gave me the opportunity to teach and give other children the experiences of growing up and helping to look after our own pets. Something I will be forever grateful to have been able to do.
With this in mind, Types Tails has become somewhat of a small family orientated business. Now that my own children are older, they have become keen to learn the ropes and become involved in helping out on particular visits. This has given them the opportunity to build some very sweet bonds with some of the more regular animals that have also grown up with children and are quite missing them whilst they are away! This is what Types Tails is all about, tailoring your own animals visits to cater for their own individual needs, with a family touch, within the comfort of their own home.
My husband, Daren, is insured to help out when/if needed in case of an emergency and My neighbour and friend Kate is also on our insurance as a second back up. Daren, Kate and I all have enhanced police checks in place. Stanley will be starting college in September and is keen to help out in the holidays. Once he is 16 he will also be police checked and experienced in the more regular local visits. George (11) is our youngest. He will occasionally come with me to known families who are familiar with him and used to having children around.
